Sonia Gandhi extends full support to suspended AAP MP Sanjay Singh

Shillong, July 26: Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) chairperson, Sonia Gandhi, met with AAP MP Sanjay Singh, who was suspended for the remainder of the Monsoon Session due to ‘unruly behavior’ in Parliament, and assured him of their full support.

As per IANS, upon her arrival in Parliament, Sonia Gandhi held a meeting with Sanjay Singh, who has been protesting near the Mahatma Gandhi statue on the Parliament campus for the past two days.

During the meeting, Sonia Gandhi conveyed her full support to Sanjay Singh, indicating the party’s backing for him during his suspension.

Sanjay Singh’s suspension on Monday came after he entered the Well of the House, demanding a detailed discussion on Manipur violence.

Since his suspension, Singh has been staging a protest in the Parliament premises. Other Opposition MPs from the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) have also joined him in the protest during both day and night sessions.

The united Opposition MPs are calling for a comprehensive discussion on the Manipur violence issue in both Houses of Parliament and are also demanding a statement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the matter.
