LONDON: Sachin Tendulkar failed yet again at Lord’s on Monday in what is likely to be his final test at the home of world cricket on the last day of the first test between England and India.

Tendulkar, who needs only one further century to reach an unprecedented 100 international hundreds, was dismissed lbw for 12 from 68 balls after 85 minutes at the crease.

The 38-year-old has scored a world record 14,738 runs in tests but only 195 of those have been amassed at Lord’s in nine innings at an average of 21.66 with a highest score of 37.

Tendulkar was given not out on 11 by Billy Bowden when England appealed for an lbw off Stuart Broad.

Television replays indicated the ball would have struck the stumps but the Decision Review System (DRS) is not being for lbws in the four-test series because India do not accept the ball-tracking technology.

After taking 48 minutes to move from 11 to 12, Tendulkar was then dropped by England captain Andrew Strauss at first slip off James Anderson. Two balls later, Anderson rapped him on the pads and this time Bowden upheld the appeal. (Agencies)
