SHILLONG, June 14: The talks between the All Meghalaya SSA Non-Teaching Staff Association and Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma failed on Friday with the former announcing to go ahead with its agitation programme.
Soon after holding talks with the Education Minister, the association general secretary Barikupar Mylliemngap said that following the 15-day deadline given by them, the minister had called for a meeting.
However, Mylliemngap added that the education minister did not give any assurance on their demands during the meeting.
Mylliemngap informed that they, during the meeting, had apprised the minister of their demand for an increase in salary, which has reportedly remained the same for many years.
He also informed that the association will soon decide how to go ahead with the agitation programme.
“We are not satisfied with the meeting as the minister could not provide us with proper assurance. Hence, we will resort to other course of action, including hunger strike, if the state government fails to respond to our demands,” he added.
