SHILLONG, Aug 5: Around 100 volunteers, including members of ASEZ WAO, an international young adult worker volunteer group of the World Mission Society Church of God, conducted a clean-up drive along G.S. Road from Police Bazar to Motphran on Sunday. As part of the ‘Green Earth’ project, they collected various household wastes like disposable plastic cups, straws, and food packaging, covering approximately 1 kilometre.
The initiative aimed to create a more pleasant environment and received positive reactions from local residents. These efforts align with ASEZ WAO’s mission to protect biodiversity and promote a sustainable urban environment.
A member of ASEZ WAO, Basanki Dkhar, expressed gratitude for the support from the community and highlighted the group’s commitment to environmental conservation and humanitarian service. The Shillong Municipal Board provided garbage collection vehicles, and the event concluded with 60 filled garbage bags, thanks to the collaborative effort of the volunteers and local authorities.
It may be mentioned that the World Mission Society Church of God, the foundation of ASEZ WAO, is a global church with 3.7 million believers in 7,500 regions in 175 countries.
