NEIGRIHMS holds paediatric nephrology conference

SHILLONG, Sep 8: NEIGRIHMS was abuzz with activity on Saturday as it hosted the much anticipated East Zone Paediatric Nephrology Conference 2024, organised by the Department of Paediatrics at NEIGRIHMS.
Led by Dr Himesh Barman, Professor and Head of the Department, and his team comprising Dr Rosina Ksoo, Associate Professor, and Dr Mampy Das, Assistant Professor, the conference brought together a diverse group of experts and participants. The event featured a series of insightful discussions and presentations on critical topics including the commonly encountered Nephrotic Syndrome, Glomerulonephritis, and Urinary Tract Infections (UTI).
The conference was graced by Prof C Daniala, Medical Superintendent of NEIGRIHMS, who delivered a keynote address emphasising the urgent need for a dedicated Paediatric Nephrology unit at the Institute with a vision to start a DM Residency programme in Paediatric Nephrology in the near future, in what reflects NEIGRIHMS’s dedication to expanding specialised training and care in the region.
The national faculty added substantial value to the conference with the presence of Dr Anil Vasudevan from St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore, and Dr Valentine Lobo from KEM Hospital, Pune.
The conference also saw active engagement from delegates, including DNB residents, who participated in quizzes, paper presentations, and poster sessions.
