TURA, Nov 30: At least three individuals sustained injuries in three separate accidents that occurred as attendees of the Me’gong Festival at Baljek Airport were returning home.
Police sources informed that the first incident involved a biker colliding with a Duster car, resulting in the motorcyclist suffering a fracture. In a second accident, another biker hit an Alto car and also sustained a fracture. In the third case, a passenger in a car was injured when their vehicle collided with another.
Sources attributed the accidents to rash driving.
Managing traffic for the Me’gong Festival has posed significant challenges, with a record footfall of nearly three lakh attendees causing severe disruptions. Many festival-goers faced delays of up to seven hours to travel just a few kilometres.
While the opening day of the festival concluded without any major incidents, the situation intensified with today’s headline performance by Swedish rock band Europe.
“We have made arrangements and are hopeful things will end smoothly. We will remain alert,” informed West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police, Abraham T Sangma.
