Opp push for timely payments to small timers

SHILLONG, March 7: The opposition asked the state government to ensure timely payment of staff salaries of stakeholders involved in the exercise to tackle drug abuse.
Congress MLA Ronnie V Lyngdoh said that many NGOs and institutions are rendering their services to rehabilitate the youths affected by drugs and they must be paid on time.
Opposition leader Mukul Sangma opined that the matter about the salary of the small timers must be reviewed. In reply, Social Welfare Minister Paul Lyngdoh said that there are instances when the department avails funds from the state government to ensure the payment of the staff and the funds are reverted as soon as they receive the funding from the Central Government.
