BYRNIHAT: Dropping a bombshell on the Congress Camp, KHNAM president Pyndap Saiborne on Friday declared that the Independent candidate contesting under the forum of Common People Front, Dr. P B M Basiawmoit has the support Congress MLA from Umroi Ngaitlang Dhar, Mawhati MLA Julius K Dorphang and Jirang MLA Lamboklang Mylliemngap.

Saiborne was addressing the election campaign meeting held for garnering votes for Basiawmoit at Moon Light School, Byrnihat on Friday.

The KHNAM president said, “The chance of Basiawmoit making his maiden entry to the Parliament is most favourable as he is in a very strong position in Jaintia Hills, West Khasi Hills and almost half of East Khasi Hills and now we are happy that we will secure the highest percentage of votes in Ri Bhoi district as three MLAs are with us.”

Mudslinging his former comrade in the KSU and UDP MP Candidate Paul Lyngdoh, Saiborne said that he is contesting to split the votes of Basiawmoit and the people should understand that the Congress and UDP has an understanding to make sure Congress candidate Vincent Pala return as MP.
