SHILLONG, Oct 27: The Meghalaya government on Monday launched the Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 with the administration of the Integrity Pledge by Chief Secretary Dr Shakil P Ahammed at the Main Secretariat Porch, Rilang Building, in the presence of senior government officials.
The observance, held from October 27 to November 2, is being celebrated across the country under the theme “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility.” The initiative seeks to promote integrity, transparency, and accountability in public life while reinforcing the collective resolve to build a corruption-free society.
The week-long programme began with the pledge-taking ceremony by public servants across ministries, departments, public sector undertakings (PSUs), banks, and other organizations. A series of activities and awareness programmes will be organized throughout the week to sensitize citizens and officials about the ill effects of corruption and the importance of ethical governance.
Observed annually during the last week of October to coincide with the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Vigilance Awareness Week underscores the significance of honesty and transparency as key pillars of good governance.
