SHILLONG, March 27: VPP chief Ardent M. Basaiawmoit has called on the people to reject defeatist thinking and remain united, stressing the need for courage, determination and collective resolve ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha by-election for Shillong parliamentary constituency.
He said the party will no longer accept the continued use of phrases such as “we cannot do it” or “we are too divided as a community”, and urged people to instead embrace a spirit of brotherhood and confidence in achieving their goals.
Basaiawmoit reiterated the party’s commitment to nurturing a generation with strong willpower that does not accept defeat, and said efforts are being made to remove defeatist words like “bymlah” or “can’t do it” from the public mindset.
Referring to the by-election, he said it would be an opportunity to demonstrate the willpower, mission and vision of VPP supporters, particularly to those who doubt their resolve.
The VPP chief emphasised that unity and determination will be key in shaping the outcome and direction ahead.
