Over Rs 7.77 lakh looted from ATM kiosk in Ri-Bhoi

NONGPOH, April 6: Miscreants decamped with Rs 7.77 lakh after breaking into a Meghalaya Co-operative Apex Bank ATM at Bhoirymbong Lumdaitkhla in Ri-Bhoi.
The theft is suspected to have taken place between midnight on Sunday and the early hours of Monday. The incident came to light at around 8 am when the security guard arrived to open the ATM room and found the booth tampered with.
Following a written complaint from the Branch Manager of the bank’s Bhoirymbong branch, Umiam police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
