SHILLONG, April 14: The Dorbar of Hima Mylliem has announced a special cleaning drive at Iewduh market on April 19, beginning at 9 am.
Syiem of Hima Mylliem, Ainam Sing Syiem, stated that while daily cleaning is managed by Dorbar workers, this major initiative is conducted three times a year. The drive has been scheduled for a Sunday to ensure that daily wage earners and traders can continue their activities during the rest of the week without disruption.
To ensure the exercise proceeds smoothly, the Dorbar Hima has requested farmers not to bring produce to the market on the day of the drive. Shopkeepers and vendors are required to clean their shops in advance and place all waste outside before closing on the evening of April 18. Additionally, vehicle owners and drivers are advised not to park along the main road from Motphran (Jeep Stand area) to Mawlong to prevent traffic congestion.
The Syiem and the Dorbar have appealed for full public cooperation.
