Man convicted for setting wife’s house on fire

SHILLONG, April 30: The Court of Additional Deputy Commissioner (Judicial) B Laitmon has convicted Iotsing Mynsong for setting his wife’s house on fire, an act that endangered the lives of his wife and their 10-month-old daughter.
The incident occurred on December 24, 2024, leading to an FIR at Madanrting Police Station.
Following an investigation by UBSI Samuel Lapang, a charge sheet was filed in January 2025 under Section 326(g) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The court sentenced Mynsong to the period of imprisonment already served, totaling one year and three months.
He was also ordered to pay a fine of Rs 50,000, in default of which he must undergo an additional three months of simple imprisonment.
