Two-day workshop on ecotourism held in WJH

SHILLONG: A two-day workshop centered on the theme ‘Promotion of community-based ecotourism for forest and wildlife conservation’ was held at Mukhaialong in West Jaintia Hills on Friday.
The programme was organised by the Office of the Divisional Forest Officer, Jaintia Hills Wildlife Division in collaboration with Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment, Bangalore, along with the Waheh Chnong of Mukhaialong village.
The programme witnessed around 60 participants from across the district.
Technical training on utilisation of forest resources was provided along with proper usage of local handicraft as a means of income.
A lecture on Pnar traditions was given as well as a training session on hospitality. The workshop concluded with a prize distribution ceremony.
