GUWAHATI: The seat sharing among the BJP-led alliance comprising AGP and BPF as other constituents for the Lok Sabha election have been finalized on Saturday following a meeting with the BJP’s national President Amit Shah in New Delhi.
The AGP which has agreed to renew alliance with the BJP, has been rewarded with three Lok Sabha seats and assurance of one Rajya Sabha seats in the state.
The party source informed that the AGP will field candidates from Kaliabor, Barpeta and Dhubri Parliamentary Constituencies in Assam while
The AGP has ensured that from 2019 they will have at least one representative in the parliament when they cut a deal with the BJP getting three Lok Sabha seats and one Rajya Sabha seat. The AGP will also be given the lone vacant Rajya Sabha seat from the state as per the decision arrived at the meeting in New Delhi on Saturday. Election to this RS seat shall take place in the month of June, 2019
The Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), another constituent in the alliance, will field its candidate from Kokrajhar parliamentary constituency.
The arrangement leaves the BJP with the rest 10 seats including Guwahati parliamentary constituency. Out of these ten seats, seven were won by the BJP in 2014 election.
The AGP and the BPF don’t have any representative in Lok Sabha as on date as both the party drew blank in 2014 Lok Sabha polls which the AGP and BJP contested separately.
