The Traffic department of the Police is presently repainting the zebra-crosses ”STOP” signals and other regulatory marks on the roads of Shillong. The white paint, which stands out in sharp contrast to the black-topped roads, is ideally suited for catching the attention of motorists. It’s a good job well done. But the real test is to make the vehicles observe these regulations. Uphill task, this?
