‘Impose ‘fine’ to control garbage problem’

Shillong: The Department of Social Work, St. Edmunds College conducted a live interview at MUDA complex on Friday evening as part of its two-day anti-garbage disposal campaign.

Talking to reporters here on Monday, a student from the department, Samuel L. Nonglait stressed on the need to impose ‘fine’ to contain garbage problem in the city.

Highlighting more on the interview conducted by them, he said all interviewee put forth the same opinion wherein they said shortage of dustbins was the main reason behind this problem in the city.

“We should not always blame the government for everything as it is also our responsibility to keep the State clean,” said Nonglait.

He said the department would evaluate the whole scenario first and “see what can be done in this stead.”
