SHILLONG: The FKJGP’s Mawsynram unit has opposed the decision of the Acting Syiem of Hima Mawsynram, Amossingstar Malngiang to allow people to carry out religious rituals at Mawjymbuiñ cave at Mawsynram, which is one of the popular tourist spots in the state. The president of unit DR Marbaniang told reporters on Wednesday that the organisation was not against performance of rituals by any religion and added “after they finish conducting their rituals, it is noticed that they don’t take the pain to clean the place.”

It may be mentioned that this matter was taken up with the FKJGP’s East Khasi Hills district unit, which had stopped worshipping in front of the cave.

“The Acting Syiem cannot take this decision alone,” said Marbaniang adding that before arriving at such a decision he should have taken the views of Dorbar Shnong and people in general into consideration.
