JOWAI: A fresh High Court order has directed the Dolloi Elaka Raliang to conduct pator election under Sumer patorship within September.

Earlier, the Shillong division bench Gauhati High Court has issued an order directing the JHADC to conduct the pator election in the area within 45 days during the month August.

However, the Elaka Dorbar filed another petition requesting the court to allow the dolloi and the Elaka Dorbar to conduct the election of pator as per traditional practice as the District Council has no right to conduct Pator election as per the appointment and seccession of Chief and Headmen Act.

Based on this petition filed by the Dolloi and the Elaka Dorbar, the High Court has stayed the first order and issued a fresh order dated 19-08-2011 directing the Dolloi to conduct the election within September this year.

In this regard, the Dolloi Elaka Raliang, Chawas Lyngdoh has convened a meeting of headmen (rangbah shnongs) of all villages under Sumerpatorship on September 12 at 11 am at the Dolloi Office, Raliang. Lyngdoh has requested all rangbah shnongs to attend the meeting to dicuss on the smooth conduct of the pator election in the area.
