Kohima: The State Tourism Department has started preparing for the National Hornbill Festival, one of the biggest tourism festivals of the Country.
According to official sources here today the Nagaland Directorate of Tourism in Kohima held a joint meeting with representatives of various tribal hohos and unions in connection with the ensuing Hornbill Festival yesterday.
Accordingly, the Director of Tourism K Yanpanthung Kikon had issued a public notice that all tribal Morungs (dormitories) were to arrange for at least two volunteers dressed in respective tribal traditional attires during Hornbill festival like the previous years.
All the tribal Morungs were put up respective tribal flags in front of their Morungs at Kisama, clean up and decorate their Morungs for the festival to be completed by November 26 next.
The public notice said the tribal hohos may submit names of participants for indigenous games such as greased bamboo pole climbing, pork fat eating competition, Naga chilly eating competition, Top spinning, archery etc to the Directorate of Youth Resource and Sports, Kohima. (UNI)
