SHILLONG: The Greater Laban Community Development Society (GLCDS) has come down heavily on Urban Affairs Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh for stressing that the Dorbar Shnong should respect the Building Bye-Laws formulated by the Meghalaya Urban Development Authority (MUDA).

“The Urban Affairs Minister should herself respect the authority of the Dorbar Shnong. It is not the Dorbar Shnong which should respect her so called ‘draconian’ bye-laws framed by the Municipal and MUDA. These bye laws do not have the approval of the Dorbar Shnong, Syiem of Mylliem and the KHADC,” the GLCDS general secretary AN Marwein said in a statement issued on Wednesday.

He further said that the bye-laws are a harassment to the general public .

Marwein said the GLCDS endorses the decision of the Dorbar Shnong of Upper Lumparing, Lower Lumparing and Kynjat Phutbol to derecognized the Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) and MUDA.
