Workshop

Sankardev College, Shillong is organizing a one day Workshop on “Introduction of Semester System in Colleges” on December 10 at Shillong Club, at 10am.

Body found

An unidentified male body was found lying in the paddy field at Naya Basti, Bholaganj at 8pm on December 4 in the Indo Bangladesh border. The body is lying in the Civil Hospital Morgue.

Competition

The 41st Universal Postal Union Letter Writing Competition by the Department of Posts will be held on January 8, 2012 in the office of The Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Meghalaya Division, Shillong (Top Floor of Shillong GPO Building) from 10 to 11 in the morning.

Book release

A book Climate Change Environmental Impact Human Ethics in Question published by Synod College will be released on December 9 at 2pm at the Conference Hall of the College.

Census

The Principal SECC-2011 Officer, East Khasi Hills District informed that the enumeration for the Socio Economic and Caste Census, 2011 has commenced in the areas of Umpling, Mawpat, Nongmynsong, Lawsohtun, Nongkseh, Umlyngka, Mawlai, Pynthormkhrah, Cantonment Board and Mawphlang Block.

Fertilizer rates

The Directorate of Agriculture, Meghalaya has informed that the prices of MOP, IFFP and IPL for sale to consumers of the State/Government Department/Farmers have been revised w.e.f from November 14. The revised price of MOP is Rs14,182 and Rs13,696; IFFO is Rs22,053 and Rs20,548 whereas IPL is Rs22,163 and Rs20,655 for government department and farmers, respectively.

Training prog

The 3rd year students of St. Edmunds College (Department of Social Work) will be conducting a nutrition training programme (how to make local made food products) on Friday.

Rights Day

The Department of Social Work, Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU) and Meghalaya People’s Human Right Council would be jointly organizing a programme to mark the International Human Rights Day 2011 at its department at Nongkhyriem Nongthymmai here on Saturday.

Training

The Shillong Commerce College in collaboration with Department of Civil Defence and Home Guard conducted a volunteers’ training in the college here on Wednesday. The training was aimed at preparing the students to respond as emergency volunteers during natural calamities.

A two-month long skill development programme on light motor vehicle driving and basics of vehicle maintenance for women only was inaugurated on Thursday by Mrs L Jyrwa, Additional Director of Social Welfare Department, Meghalaya at the Conference Hall of the District Commerce and Industries Centre, Shillong.
