Hasina visit

AGARTALA: Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has sent two more battalions of Border Security Force (BSF) personnel for guarding 856 km border of Tripura with Bangladesh ahead of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s two-day visit to the state from January 11, Inspector General of BSF Tripura Frontier P C Meena said here on Saturday.

”Though there is no security threat or no such report of any subversive movement along international border, additional development has been made in vulnerable areas of the border to foil intrusion bid from across the border,” Mr Meena said.

”With the deployment of additional two battalions of BSF the strength of border guards would be increased substantially,” he added. Ruling out the possibility of withdrawal of the additional forces from Tripura border after Ms Hasina’s visit, he said the state government had been demanding additional deployment in the border besides, completion of wire-fencing and after detailed assessment authorities had dispatched the additional forces.
