SHILLONG: To ensure an overall growth and development of the villages along inter-State border, the HNYF has suggested the State Government to constitute an Inter-State Border Area Development Department or Cell.
“We strongly feel that the only way out for the Government to remove the feeling of neglect of the people residing along the Inter-State border is the constitution of a separate department to address the problem of under-development of these areas,” HNYF president GH Kharshanlor said while speaking to reporters after the Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting of the organisation on Friday.
He said people residing along the inter-State border were having a soft corner for Assam.
“This ‘soft corner’ has not surprised me as the Assam Government has done so many things for the overall growth and development of those area,” HNYF president.
“The people along the border areas are also getting their PDS items from Assam,” he said.
He also urged the Government to start focusing on agro-based industries considering the huge potential of the State.
