New Delhi: The height of any high-rise building should be linked with the width of the road on which the proposed structure is to come up and also the distance of local fire station, a Central Government guideline has suggested.
For buildings more than 15 m height, all necessary fire- fighting equipment should be in place before the occupancy of the building.
These buildings should have a minimum 15 m width road (18 m desirable) to facilitate arrival of fire tenders in shortest possible time in case of emergency, the new rules issued by the Union Environment Ministry says.
The rule applicable for a building between the height of 30 m and 45 m is a desirable link road of 24 m (minimum 18m) width.
And if the height of the building is between 45 m to 60 m, the desirable width of the road connecting to it should be 30 m (minimum 24 m). The buildings having above 60 m height should be linked with a road with a desirable width of 45 m (minimum 30m).
The new rules stipulate minimum 10 km as the distance between a 30 to 45 meter high building and a fire station. For a building having 45 m to 60 m height, there should be a fire station at a distance of 5 km.
According to the guideline, No Objection Certificate (NOC) should be obtained from the local fire station.
“NOC shall also be obtained from National/State Disaster Management Authority, wherever applicable,” it added. (PTI)
