SHILLONG: Mawlai legislator Founder Strong Cajee (Congress) is in the eye of the storm following an allegation by a city-based school principal that a cheque worth Rs 5 lakh issued by the MLA had bounced. Informing of the incident, Sylvester Lugun, principal of St. Francis D’Assisi High School located at Mawlai Kynton Massar, said that the local MLA had handed over a cheque of Rs 5 lakh to the school on November 28, 2011.
“I had received the cheque from the MLA (Cajee) as financial assistance for expansion of two classsrooms. One week after receiving the cheque, I went to deposit it at the Federal Bank in Shillong. However, I was in for a shock after I was informed that there was no money in the account,” the principal alleged.
He also stated that this incident has dented the image of the school which is being accused of depositing an illegal cheque.
