CWC meeting
The extended CWC meeting of All India Congress committee will be held on June 4 at New Delhi. Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma and MPCC president DD Lapang will attend the meeting.
World Environment day
The NEHU will celebrate the World Environment Day on June 5 at the University Campus in Mawlai. The Programme will commence with the planting of saplings by the PG NSS unit at the University premises in which the Vice-Chancellor, NEHU, Prof. AN Rai will be present as the chief guest.
Meanwhile, the Sein Raij, Jowai will also observe World Environment Day on June 5.
Assam Rifles
The Assam Rifles under civic action project recently sponsored three computer sets and also constructed the hygienic chimney for the Isabella Kwointina Nongbri Memorial LP School. The Dorbar Dong of Demseniong has also expressed happiness over the noble gesture of Assam Rifles.
Literary awards
The Raid Laban Sports Social and Culture Organization would confer literary awards to students who secured first division or above in various examinations. The forms are available at the office of the organisation at New Kench’s Trace.
Condolence
The Shillong Bar Association, in a general body meeting held on Thursday condoled the death of Justice (Retd) Berly Lamare and a minute’s silence was observed as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
Relief payment
The Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills has informed that the payment of gratuitous relief has been released to those affected victims whose household items were damaged by flashfloods which occurred last year under Mylliem block.
Musical evening
The Director of Arts and Culture will organize a musical evening of country music featuring Bobby Cash on Saturday from 6 pm at the State Central Library.
Free eye check up
The Angels Play School will organize a free eye check up camp in collaboration with Bawri Netralaya in the school premises at Upper Lachumiere on June 4.
