SHILLONG: The State Cabinet on Thursday approved the setting up of a New Shillong Township Development Agency to be headed by the State Chief Secretary. The decision was taken during a Cabinet meeting on Thursday.
Urban Affairs Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh informed after the meeting that the Agency will be set up under the Societies Registration Act with an exclusive jurisdiction over the master plan area notified under the Shillong Township.
“The Agency will be responsible for land acquisition in the Township besides being accountable for management of finance and land and its allotment.
Meanwhile, the State Cabinet also approved certain clauses required in the bidding process for the Shillong Medical College project.
