SHILLONG: Even though the HNLC is yet to officially claim responsibility for the indiscriminate firing at the Lumdiengjri police station on Monday night, the outfit publicity secretary Sainkupar Nongtraw has posted on the social networking site (Facebook) that Monday’s incident is only the beginning.

“What happened yesterday (Monday) night is a small example of what is going to happen in the run-up to the outfit’s ‘silver jubilee’ on August 14. We will continue with our armed struggle for another 25 years if required,” Nongtraw stated on the social networking site.

Meanwhile, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police AR Mawthoh said that the police have completed the exercise of reviewing the overall security scenario in the city following Monday’s firing incident.

“We will beef up the security of all the police units in the city,” Mawthoh said.

He however said that so far the police are yet to get any definite clues as to which group is responsible for the firing.

The SP said police have received inputs that there were three people who had carried out the daring operation of firing indiscriminately at the police station.

“We are making all efforts to identify and nab those responsible for the firing incident,” Mawthoh added.

On Monday night a group of armed miscreants had fired 20 rounds at the Lumdiengjri police station.

This firing has left bullet marks all over the police station and also at the police staff quarters.
