JOWAI: Extending support to People’s Movement, a conglomerate of social organisations and public representatives, on the issue of border issue, the KSU’s Jaintia Hills district unit has demanded early end to border dispute between Meghalaya and Assam.

“The Government should immediately solve the long pending boundary dispute between the two neighbouring state”, said Streamly S Niangti, general secretary of the KSU unit.

“We extended our support to all those who are taking part in the fast-unto-death at Langpih,” Niangti added.

The KSU leader said people residing in border areas such as Block I, Block II and Langpih are facing various problems. “Successive state governments have not taken any initiative to resolve the vexed border row, he said.

Pynskhemlang Nongshlong and others began fast-unto-death on June 30 at Langpih near the memorial stone, built in memory of the four Khasi villagers from Langpih area who were killed in firing by Assam police firing on May 14, 2010.
