MYNSAIN: All is not well with the implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) in Mynsain Village under Umsning Community & Rural Development and Umroi Constituency as several irregularities have surfaced during the meeting between the Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) Bhoirymbong Circle and the village job card holders on Saturday at Mynsain Village.

In the meeting, one of the job card holders said that Mynsain Rangbah Shnong, Ribok Makhroh has kept their job cards with himself. Another woman informed that the social audit which was held July 11 was a mere formality as the officials did not answer any of the questions posed by them.

Another job card holder alleged that Makhroh has not paid the wages for more than 20 job card holders till date for reasons best known to him.

Indicating a clear misappropriation of the scheme, a group of job card holders stood up and apprised the HNYF leadership that Makhroh would take the wages of job card holders whose names did not feature in the list of job card holders.

During the spot inspection of the two approach roads constructed under MGNREGA, it was found out that Makhroh violated the norms of the MGNREGA as he did not display any signboard as to give information on the name of works, amount etc.

Speaking to this scribe, HNYF Bhoirymbong Circle vice president S Rympei said that they demanded that Makhroh should give the payments of wages to the job card holders and to pay a reasonable amount to the persons whose names were misused as job card holders, within a period of seven days, failing which they will be forced to take some drastic action in this regard.
