Kohima: The Nagaland BJP on Monday condemned the assault on ten students from the northeast in Pune.

These students were beaten up and attacked by unidentified miscreants in separate incidents on August 8 and 9.

In a statement here, Nagaland BJP president Dr M Chuba Ao and spokesman K James Vizo said such incidents were uncalled for in a democratic society and should never be encouraged.

Such type of discriminatory attitude and atrocity meted out to the northeast students cannot be tolerated, the BJP said.

The BJP Nagaland Unit demanded that the Maharashtra government and the law enforcing authorities immediately arrest the culprits and give them exemplary punishment besides providing adequate security to the northeast people in Pune.

It also appealed to its Central BJP leaders and northeast BJP Sampark Cell to intervene and take necessary steps to persue the matter with authorities concerned.

Meanwhile, the BJP condemned the barbaric torture and murder of the two women from Longleng District on August 7 at Titabor in Assam.

The BJP demanded Assam Government and the law enforcing agency to immediately arrest the culprits and punish them as per the law. (UNI)
