Foundation scheme

The Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills has informed that the government of India, Ministry of Social Justice and empowerment under the aegis ‘Dr Ambedkar Foundation’ is implementing the Dr Ambedkar Medical Aid scheme for SCs and STs, national merit awards for meritorious students of secondary schools examination belonging to SCs and STs etc.

Meeting

The GEC meeting of the Meghalaya Swmming Association will be held on September 8 at 10 am in the Crinoline Swimming Pool. Members of the Meghalaya Swimming Association will attend the meeting.

Killing condemned

The Meghalaya School Service Association has condemned the brutal killing of Deenybirth G Momin, an assistant teacher of Resubelpara Government Higher Secondary School.

Teacher’s Day

The 51st Teachers Day will be observed on September 5 at Aurobindo Hall. Education Minister Dr RC Laloo will be the chief guest while Chief Secretary WMS pariat will be the guest of honour.

Food festival

Punjabi Sabha of Shillong is organizing a food festival cum competition at Hotel Pegasus crown on September 8 from 12 noon to 5 pm. Entry forms are available at Pegasus crown.

Body found

One unknown male person between 30-35 years, swarthy and medium built and wearing a black T-Shirt and white and black stripe half trousers was found lying in an unconscious state in a drain besides MeECL office. The person was shifted to Civil Hospital but later declared dead. The body has been kept in the hospital’s morgue for identification.

General meeting

The annual general meeting of the Laban Assamese Namghar will be held on September 9 at 4:00pm in Namghar premises.

Water supply

The Executive Engineer, PHE RWS Division, Nongpoh has informed that due to a damaged pipeline water supply has been disrupted in the area at the stretch between Dulongnar and Umdihar village.
