SHILLONG: Deputy Chief Minister Bindo M Lanong launched the official website of Bharat Sevashram Sangha (BSS), Shillong Centre www.bss-shg.org on Sunday at the BSS Centre located at Jail Road. On the occasion a maiden Durga Puja souvenir of BSS “Shakti” followed by an annual periodical “Seva” was released by Manas Chaudhuri, MLA, Mawprem Constituency and AL Hek, MLA, Pynthormkhrah Constituency, respectively.

“This is one Ashram that makes me more homely. Hindu religion does not confine itself within religious rites but is also extending its services to the needy. In Shillong, we have Ramakrishna Mission which is doing wonderful service to the people here besides Marwari Panchayat and other communities and their organizations,” said Lanong.

Hek said that the sacrifices and selfless service provided by the monks of BSS is immense. “I have seen the monks conducting themselves and putting to the service to the nation as their life is all about ‘service to man service to god’ and hope the organization progresses by leaps and bounds,” he said.

Chaudhuri said, “BSS is secondto none when it comes to serving the society. It is for the world to see the way the Swamis are working, the way they are giving their best giving relief to the sufferings of the people as the number of people benefited from their service and the judicious use of money towards these services,” he said.
He also applauded the changes that BSS has brought in the state with their short presence here, so far. “In Shillong your presence is new but you have made a distinct change in the lives of people. Our Upanishad tells mankind that what should men do with money, position and what have you. At the end of the day you must be of some use to the people, community and world at large,” he said.
