State contingent bags three awards at N-E youth fest at Itanagar

 ITANAGAR: The Meghalaya State contingent which went to represent the 3rd North East Youth Festival was held at Chimpu, Itanagar from November 6-9. Organized by the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of Arunachal and supported by the Ministry of Youth & Sports, Government of India, the State bagged three awards by winning in three competitions including Rock Band, Painting and Instrumental competition.

The State contingent who won the three competition include the Still Status band represented by Aiborlang Marbaniang (Guitarist), Anderson Bareh (Vocalist), Solomon Lyngdoh (Bassist) and Frankyson R Nongpiur (Drummer) in Painting was represented by James Papeng who came second in the competition and Jerry Lyngdoh Nonglait came second in the Instrumental Competition, the award was handed over to the participant by the Arunachal Chief Minister Nabam Tuki.

It may mentioned that, the 3rd North East Youth Festival being organized with its theme Youth for Unity with aims to provide an opportunity to the youth of the North East Region and to the rest of the Country.

A platform to understand and interact with one another with ultimate objective of the National Integration. The 1st North East Youth Festival was held at Kohima, Nagaland and the 2nd was held in Shillong, Meghalaya.

Speaking to The Shillong Times at Itanagar, Kitboklang Nongphlang an Escorting Officer and the State Youth Awardees said that, the participants who had been selected to represent the State had done very well and worked hard in the different competition being held in the Festival, on which he had congratulated all the participants especially those who had brought laurel to the State by winning in the three competition which were, Rock Band, Painting and the Instrumental Competition.

He also expressed, his sincere thanks to the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs for taking initiative in selecting the participant and had provided an opportunity for the participants to show case their various talents, which also served as a platform for them to upgrade their talent.
