SHILLONG: Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) is pumping large amounts of fake Indian currency notes (FICN) into India, said a top Border Security Force (BSF) official.

Though the fake currency notes are coming from Bangladesh through porous border in Meghalaya sector, the BSF official said the ISI is behind its circulation.

“The ISI wants to de-stabilize the Indian economy,” the official said.

It may be mentioned that in recent past, BSF apprehended several FICN racketeers along the Indo-bangla border.

According to the BSF official, the ISI had an active network in Bangladesh and it is proved by the fact that many times counterfeit currency notes were brought to Bangladesh in Pakistan International Airline ( PIA) flights.

According to BSF official, the issue of FICN has been discussed at all levels and both India and Bangladesh have formed a joint task force to keep a check on this. “We have arrested some FICN racketeers and now we are on the look out for the kingpin,” he said.
