Year of Mathematics

The Nongpoh Science Popularizing Club will celebrate the National Mathematics Year 2012 at Alpha English HS School, Nongpoh, on December 13 at 11.30am.

Bank official’s visit

Ajai Kumar, Chairman & Managing Director, Corporation Bank, will visit Shillong on December 11 and 12 in connection with the business review of N-E branches.

One-day strike

The Central Government employees of Meghalaya will hold a one-day strike on December 12 to press the Central Government to settle their 15-point charter of demands which comprises setting up of the Seventh Central Pay Commission, besides other demands.

Food festival

The Sein Ki Manbei (SKM), the women’s wing of Sein Raij, will organize a food festival on December 22 at Sein Jaintia Hall from 11 am.

Workshop

The Indian Red Cross Society, Meghalaya Branch, will organize the strategic planning workshop of the Indian Red Cross Society on December 19 at Step By Step School.

LJP appeal

The Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) has urged the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner to make the PDS facility available to the lower labour class. The party also complained that many EPIC holders have not been issued their family identity card.

Legal literacy

The BDO, Mawphlang C&RD Block, has informed that a legal literary campaign will be held on December 14 at AEC building, Mawngap Lumparing from 10.30am.

Cleaning drive

The Lumshyiap Dorbar Shnong will conduct a cleaning drive on December 17 from 8am. The Dorbar Shnong has asked all land owners to take part in the cleaning drive.

Concert

St. Rose School, Umpling, would be playing host to a galaxy of recitalists and vocalists who have helped Shillong earn the much envied ‘rock capital of India’ sobriquet. Groups, choirs and singers including Freddy Thangkhiew, Cynthia Marbaniang, Strait Brothers among others would be performing at the concert scheduled on Dec 15 from 4 pm.
