Mock poll, EVM checking at Mawkyrwat

 SHILLONG: The First Level Checking of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) was held on Friday and Saturday at the Deputy Commissioner’s office Mawkyrwat, South West Khasi Hills District under the aegis of four engineers from the Electronic Corporation of India Limited (ECIL).

A two-day mock poll was also conducted by the District Election Officer and Additional Deputy Commissioner in charge Election, A Mawlong, Additional Deputy Commissioner in charge training and personnel KL Nongbri, Extra Assistance Commissioner MS Sangma, MCS A Nongbri and Master trainers.

143 EVMs to be used in the forth coming Assembly Election in the State were thoroughly checked by the engineers and master trainers.

The mock poll was conducted in the presence of representatives of political parties which included the Congress, UDP, HSPDP, NPP and NCP.

Eight EVMs were used in the mock poll and a total number of 1008 votes were polled.
