JOWAI: Arrested several times for duping people, rape-accused Heimon Mallang (35) of Latyrke village, who even claimed to be the nephew of MP Vincent H Pala, has once again landed in the police net.

The fraudster was arrested on Thursday evening by Ummulong Police in Shillong and handed over to West Jaintia hills Police later.

He was remanded in five-day police custody after being produced at the local court on Friday.

Mallang has duped many educated unemployed youth by promising them government jobs.

Police arrested him based on separate complaints lodged by Ebadamut Syntem of Mynso village and

Ducklass Chyrmang of Syndai village who have been cheated of Rs 1.30 lakh and 5.55 lakh respectively by Mallang on pretext of securing them jobs in the Soil and Water Conservation Department, Shillong.

The Jaintia Hills Police have arrested Mallang on several occasions on charges of fraud.

He was also apprehended last year for allegedly raping a woman whom he had also kidnapped.
