SHILLONG: Police on Sunday arrested four people including a PHE engineer and a constable allegedly involved in kidnapping three minor girls (15, 16 and 13 yrs) on Friday last. The persons identified as Teiborlang Sunn, JE, PHE, East Khasi Hills Division, Restarwell Sunn of 1st MLP Bn, John Nongkynrih (18) and Emanuel Nongkynrih (20) have been arrested on Sunday in connection with the crime and the Police are also looking into the rape angle.
Police said that on Friday evening, the three minor girls were reported missing from Mawiong, Shillong. Later, it was learnt that the same evening, the arrested persons and a woman, Evan Kharumnuid (32) along with the minor girls had gone to MeECL IB at Byrnihat (RB) in a Maruti car (ML-05E-1416).
Later on Saturday morning, the girls left the IB and boarded a bus for Shillong. However, only one of the girls, on reaching Mawiong, returned home, while the other two proceeded to Shillong and returned home the next day. When contacted, Police said they are still investigating into the matter.
