Satellite centre of Chandigarh institute launched

Shillong: Chandigarh-based Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research on Wednesday launched a satellite centre at the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences.

The satellite centre set up here for advanced child healthcare in collaboration with PGIMER would look after all aspects of child healthcare and take up research in genetic disorders, communicable and non-communicable diseases and pediatric management, NEIGRIHMS director A G Ahangar said.

The faculty for the centre is drawn from PGIMER, Chandigarh under the leadership of Prof (Dr) Meenu Singh, department of Pediatrics. Inaugurating the centre, Dr V M Katoch, director general ICMR, New Delhi, urged participants drawn from Assam and Tripura to concentrate on how best to use the facilities. (PTI)
