CALM festival kicks off

 SHILLONG: The second edition of the Shillong Calm Creative Arts Literature and Music festival kicked off here in the city with much fun and fervor.

Organised by Sahaki society, the festival on the first day witnessed the participation of prominent authors and writers from all across the country and the State.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister RC Laloo lauded Sahaki society for organising the second edition of the festival in less than a year’s time and hoped that the citizens of Shillong would come out in large numbers to participate in the event.

East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissoner Sajay Goyal while speaking at the inaugural function said, “There is no dearth of talent in the State but we lack the right kind of forum to showcase the talent.”

He also said that the event has been organised with an intention to inspire people for picking up creative and exhibit to the world.

The three day festival includes panel discussions, debates motivational talks and book launches of eminent personalities.

Similarly, workshop on paintings, creative writing and photography would also be conducted during the festival.
