NONGPOH: In direct retaliation to the stopping of construction of the entrance gate and the SBI building at Sabuda in Block-II, the Karbi Anglong Autonomous District Council has hit back by forcibly planting bamboo stalks in private lands and constructing forest guard quarters at Sabuda.

Taken aback by this vindictive act of the KAAC, the CSWO (Irene), Sabuda Circle, held an urgent meeting at Sabuda to discuss on further course action which was attended by Sabuda Rangbah Shnong, B Sohtun, leaders of CSWO (Irene) and KSU Sabuda Unit late Tuesday night.

The NGO members on Wednesday conducted a spot inspection of the lands where the bamboo stalks had been forcibly planted without the consent of the landowners and then held another round of meeting after the inspection.

According to the KSU and CSWO (Irene) the KAAC had planted 1000 bamboo stalks in the lands belonging to Bandalin Mukhim and Belsidora Mukhim and Dromika Shabong while there were thousands other stalks yet to be planted.
