Ostracism case: Villagers agree to compromise

NONGPOH: The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District, in a statement has informed that the case relating to ostracism involving Selucus Shadap and his wife Bahunlang Rympei and the counter group consisting of Lam Syiem, Kyrshan Moksha, Poibiang Makdoh, Jeebon Moksha and Reynold Moksha of Mawrong Village, has been amicably settled vide an agreement between the two parties in the court of Smti I Mawlong, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District.

A deed of compromise was also agreed upon by the two parties which mentioned that both parties shall endeavour to maintain peace and tranquility in the village and refrain from carrying out inflammatory remarks or comments to incite the general public.

The agreement also stipulates that both parties must sort out any kind of issues by seeking the knowledge and wisdom of learned elders and the village Dorbar.
