Interface programme on climate change held

 NONGSTOIN: A one-day Interface Programme on the climatic change adaptation was organised by the office of the Deputy Commissioner, South West Khasi Hills District in collaboration with the Ferrando Development Educational and Welfare Society (FDEWS) and the District Basin Development Unit on Thursday at Multipurpose Hall Mawkyrwat.

The Interface Programme was supported by the Indo Global Social Service Society (IGSSS) and was attended by representatives of the village Action Teams from twelve villages of South West Khasi Hills District.

The Ferrando Development Educational and Welfare Society was also the implementing NGO for the Sustainable Options for Uplifting Livelihood, which was part of Climatic Change Adaptation project for South West Khasi Hills District.

Speaking as the Chief Guest, the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mawkyrwat K L Nongbri stressed on conservation of the environment and its surroundings and also to reduce the vulnerability of the pollution sectors which are sensitive to climate change. Therefore, he urged upon the people to change their mindset and to stop destroying the natural resources so that the future generation would not be affected.
