The Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System (CCTNS), a flagship programme of Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) was launched on Tuesday by Nagaland Home Minister G Kaito Aye. The CCTNS application, would bring massive change in the present police functioning as well as bringing confidence to the people, official sources said on Wednesday.
The minister thanked the MHA for 100 per cent grant for the project to the fund-starved state and for its initiative to transform conventional policing into digital policing at par with the rest of the country and the world.
DGP Besesayo Kezo said that CCTNS would increase efficiency and policing through the creation of IT enabled state-of-the-art tracking system for investigation and crime detection through a countrywide network of more than 14000 police stations.
He said that the project aimed at making policing people-friendly and more transparent through computerised day-to-day functioning at police stations.
