SHILLONG: Three more cases of Dengue have been reported from West Garo Hills District taking the number of Dengue positive cases in the State to 23 in the last 20 days.
West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Pravin Bakshi on Saturday said that the district administration has taken all preventive measures to prevent the disease.
“It is more or less contained,” Bakshi claimed, while adding that the doctors are on alert to ensure that there is no outbreak of the disease.
According to Bakshi, the Integrated Disease Surveillance team has returned after assessing the situation but the district administration is leaving no stone unturned to stop outbreak of dengue. He informed that meetings are being held in different localities of the district to spread awareness about the disease.
It may be mentioned that the district administration has directed hospital authorities across the district to provide adequate treatment and medicines to those suffering from the disease and they have also been directed to act quickly on any dengue case reported to them.
Guidelines have also been issued to the people of Garo hills districts to protect themselves from Dengue fever, the district head informed, adding the Tura Municipal Board is conducting intensive cleaning of the entire Tura town prevent its further outbreak.
