SHILLONG: MPCC president DD Lapang has come down heavily on UDP for demanding Chief Minister Dr Makul Sangma’s resignation saying the party has no mandate to make such demands.

“If he (Dr Sangma) wants to step down it is his prerogative,” Lapang said while talking to newsmen on Thursday.

Earlier, UDP working president Paul Lyngdoh demanded the Chief Minister’s resignation for his failure to respect the sentiments of the people of the state on the issue of ILP.
