CM administers natl integration pledge

SHILLONG: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma on Tuesday led the State in administering the National Integration Pledge as part of the Quami Ekta Week, outside the Main Secretariat Building here.

In his short speech, Chief Secretary WMS Pariat mentioned that the message of communal harmony and national integration would be the motto of the Quami Ekta Week.

“Our country is a mosaic with people of different caste, tradition and religion and it is our duty and responsibility to create a sense of belonging to the nation,” Pariat said.

Before administering the pledge, Dr Sangma said that the national integration week is being observed to remember the birth anniversary of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

“Our nation as a population of 1.2 billion which strengthen the economy of the country and contribute for growth of its resources,” he added. “Unity and integrity can be strengthen and achieved only when we come together,” he said.

All the officers and staff were present to pledge for integrity of the nation on this day.
