Assam Chief Minister returns tea companies’ donation to relief fund

Guwahati: Dissatisfied with the Rs 15.23 lakh donated by major tea companies to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has decided to return the money.

A statement from the Chief Minister’s Office said Gogoi was dissatisfied with the money recently donated to the fund by 25 major tea companies operating in the state.

So, the cheques were being sent back to the 25 companies, it said. The donations to the Cm’s relief fund are utilised for treatment of cancer patients, poor and down-trodden in the state, the added. (PTI)
